THE MISSING EPISODES

In January of 1999 the discovery in New Zealand of episode one of the William Hartnell story "THE CRUSADE" sparked a new interest in the search for the 109 missing DOCTOR WHO episodes. These films were deleted from the BBC vaults in the mid 70's and 80's along with other BBC series from the 50's and 60's that features interviews and performances of the Beatles, Elvis Presley, and the Rolling Stones. Some of these films have been discovered in church basements, car boot sales, and film collector fairs. This is a current list of the remaining missing episodes provided by THE DOCTOR WHO ALLIANCE.

WILLIAM HARTNELL

  • MARCO POLO - All 7 episodes.
  • REIGN OF TERROR - Episodes 4 and 5 of a 6 part story. Carole Anne Ford narrated the intro for a proposed video release of episodes 1-3 and 6 but the idea was scrubbed.
  • CRUSADE - Episodes 2 and 4 of a 4 part story. Episode 3 was released on the "HARTNELL YEARS" video.
  • GALAXY FOUR - All 4 episodes.
  • MISSION TO THE UNKNOWN - Episode 1 of 1.
  • MYTH MAKERS - All 4 episodes.
  • DALEK'S MASTER PLAN - Episodes 1,3,4, 6-9, and 11-12 of 12 parts. Episodes 5 and 10 were released on the "DALEKS: THE EARLY YEARS" tape.
  • THE MASSACRE - All 4 episodes.
  • CELESTIAL TOYMAKER - Episodes 1-3 of 4 parts. Episode 4 was released on the "HARTNELL YEARS" video.
  • SAVAGES - All 4 episodes.
  • SMUGGLERS - All 4 episodes.
  • TENTH PLANET - Episode 4 of 4 parts.

PATRICK TROUGHTON

  • POWER OF THE DALEKS - All 6 episodes.
  • HIGHLANDERS - All 4 episodes.
  • UNDERWATER MENACE - Episodes 1, 2 & 4 of 4 parts. Episode 3 was released on "ICE WARRIORS/THE MISSING YEARS" video.
  • MOONBASE - Episodes 1 & 3 of 4 parts. Episodes 2 & 4 were released on "CYBERMEN: THE EARLY YEARS" video.
  • MACRA TERROR - All 4 episodes.
  • FACELESS ONES - Episodes 2, 4-6 of 6 parts.
  • EVIL OF THE DALEKS - Episodes 1, 3-7 of 7 parts. Episode 2 was released on "DALEKS: THE EARLY YEARS" video though North American box doesn't mention it.
  • ABOMINABLE SNOWMEN - Episodes 1, 3-6 of 6 parts. Episode 2 realeased on "TROUGHTON YEARS" video.
  • ICE WARRIORS - Episodes 2 & 3 of 6 parts. The "ICE WARRIORS" video has a linking segment to replace 2 & 3. UK release had special CD of audio track of 2 & 3.
  • ENEMY OF THE WORLD - Episodes 1, 2, 4-6 of 6 parts. Episode 3 realeased on "TROUGHTON YEARS" video.
  • WEB OF FEAR - Episodes 2-6 of 6 parts.
  • FURY FROM THE DEEP - All 6 episodes.
  • WHEEL IN SPACE - Episodes 1, 2, 4 & 5 of 6 parts. Episodes 3 and 6 released on "CYBERMEN: THE EARLY YEARS" video.
  • INVASION - Episodes 1 & 4 of 8 parts. "INVASION" video release had Nicholas Courtney narrating links for missing episodes.
  • SPACE PIRATES - 1 & 3-6 of 6 parts. Episode 2 released on "TROUGHTON YEARS" video.

JON PERTWEE

The following 3rd Doctor stories exist only in black and white. Color copies did exist but have also gone missing from the BBC vaults. On the box "INFERNO" is stated as a black and white copy but it is color.

  • TERROR OF THE AUTONS - All 4 episodes. "TERROR OF THE AUTONS" video release is colorized.
  • MIND OF EVIL - All 6 episodes.

  • INVASION OF THE DINOSAURS - Episode 1 of 6 parts. Syndicated story skips missing episode.
