UNIT NEWS ARCHIVE UNIT LIBRARY
Lars Pearson of Mad Norwegian Press has donated 2 volumes of About Time – covering the 1975-1979 (vol 4) and 1980-1984 (vol 5), a Faction Paradox book Warlords of Utopia by Lance Parkin and a re-issue of Dead Romance by Lawrence Miles. Also available from the UNIT library is Vol 3 (1970-1974) of About Time. The About Time series takes one doctor-s-worth of episodes and weighs in on the social, political, and economic background against which the television series is played. Very good for pointing out “current” references that most of non-Brits haven’t a prayer of catching, the books also tackle various vexing questions that have provided discussion-fodder for years – e.g. “What caused the Sontaran-Rutan War?”, “Where (and When) is Gallifrey?”, and the ever-popular “Why are there so many Doubles in the Universe?”
Lawrence Miles and Tat Wood have created three wonderful books, which the library is grateful to be given. More volumes in the series will be issued one at a time until all the Doctors are covered. They are not being issued in sequential order.
Highly recommended (as will the other 2 once your humble librarian has had a chance to do more than skim them. A huge thanks to Lars and Mad Norwegian Press!
Now available on-site: "Doctor Who - Shadows of the Past" New to our "Writing" page, we are proud to bring home two books written by our members. Firstly, the very first anthology written by UNIT folk (edited by Scott Haworth). "Doctor Who - American Style" chronicles a visit by each of the Doctor's incarnations to the shores of the United States (and not just Iowa!), as well as a short story by Jim Surowiecki who lets us earwig on a day in the life of the UNIT switchboard... Secondly, an unofficial Doctor Who novel written by "Brigadier" Bill Albert, "Shadows of the Past". An Eighth Doctor adventure set in Chicago, "Shadows" tells the story of the Doctors encounter with a mysterious girl by the name of "Gallifrey"...

Updated the IPTV schedule and added links to the survey and pledge page
for IPTV. There is a survey on the IPTV website and thought I'd put in a vote for the good Doctor. I figure it never hurts to remind them that we are here and just how many of us there are. If you're trying to think of a good website to tell them about on the survey I happen to know of one at: http://www.angelfire.com/ia/UNIT/. While you're there feel free to take a click on the EPLEDGE link there and drop them a few bucks marked for the Doctor. Doesn't have to be much but in these times every dollar helps. Give them a nudge by going to IPTV SURVEY
